I promise this is the final wedding post. Normal service will resume imminently. In the meantime, it also happens to be my favourite.
I always knew we wanted teepees. It very nearly didn’t happen but I’m so so glad it did. This is where the Moonrise Kingdom theme came into its own and also where we managed to spend most our creative time. Tom designed activity packs for each table, the best guest book of all time and various other bits of random paraphernalia, based around a scouting, fox, bear and Moonrise Kingdom theme.
We bought miles of nautical bunting (we were never going down the Cath Kidston route), made lots of signposts and even managed to source a wood carving bear from eBay. It was amazing, utterly amazing.
The teepees were hired from Papakata, who were an absolute delight to deal with. Nothing was too much of an issue, including sourcing tens of metres of carpet for us a couple of days before the wedding, because it literally hadn’t stopped raining.
Our menu was antipasti followed by steak and ale pie and finished off with the BEST ETON MESS I HAVE EVER TASTED. Seriously, it was incredible. If you’re looking for a caterer in the Yorkshire area, I cannot recommend Saunts highly enough. The food was excellent, and all at a reasonable price (shock!).
After food, to get everyone up and dancing, we had hired the Triple Scotch Ceilidh Band. They were SO good. I haven’t danced or laughed that much ever. There wasn’t a person left in their seat.
A truly perfect day.
