So, the photos are in and I have re-lived one of the most amazing, fun-filled and loving days of my life several times over. I’m sure it’s time for me to finally share! You might want to grab a glass of wine….
My Mum, sisters and Ashlie all disappeared off to the hairdresser at about 7.30am so I was pretty much left to my own devices. With my Dad out running some final errands, I was extremely relieved when my lovely make-up and hair lady Bonnie arrived (someone to talk to! Hurray!). The curlers were in by 9 o’clock, and although getting steadily more excited, I was still pretty calm.
Right up until the doorbell went and the flowers arrived that was. We gave Joanna at Twisted Willow a pretty vague idea of what we wanted (lots of greenery and very pretty!) and she really worked utter wonders. I almost cried when the buttonholes and bouquets turned up. I can assure you that I am not the sort of person who normally cries at flowers. They were BEAUTIFUL.
By the time the girls arrived back, I was more or less ready to go (minus the dress!) and it was almost 12 o’clock! How time flies when you’re having fun. Dress on, and we jumped in the cab up to the venue!
As we got to Newby before most our guests, we headed upstairs so my bridesmaids could get changed and we could chill out a bit before the ceremony. This more or less involved Harriet messing around and me laughing a lot, whilst getting steadily more nervous…. It was so wonderful being able to spend that last hour with my family and Ashlie. There was nothing more we could do – nothing else to worry about, and I really couldn’t have been happier. Apart from the bits where I was in floods of tears, I literally grinned from ear to ear all day.
Next up (if you don’t already have photo-overload): The Ceremony!!
