We visited Blenheim Palace on my birthday, and I’m mildly ashamed to say I remember very little about it, except it was a gorgeous day, we saw Liz Hurley filming The Royals, and the gardens were MASSIVE.
I’m pretty sure that description doesn’t do the place justice. It was very beautiful and the grounds were amazing but… it was extremely expensive for a one-off visit (although they’ll convert your one day ticket into a year long pass for free, which is a pretty good deal), and somehow I wasn’t blown away by the house. I don’t really know why. Suddenly I feel like a stately home snob, which seems a little ironic as I sit writing this post in my 2 bed flat….
The presence of Miss Hurley certainly made Tom’s day (she was the top of his “list” as a teenager…). From a distance at least, she genuinely doesn’t appear to have aged at all.
All in all, I had a lovely day, got some really epic presents (thank you Tom for replenishing my wardrobe!) and thoroughly enjoyed our first family trip away! It was a wonderful start to my last year as a twenty-something. Eeeeeek.
